Dubai Luxury landscape view

Recently, I had the privilege of attending the 2023 Global Symposium organized by the esteemed “Leading Real Estate Companies of the World” in the captivating city of Dubai. As I strolled through the vibrant streets, marveling at the futuristic skyline, I couldn’t help but ponder over the allure that entices countless individuals to call Dubai their home.
Similar to Portugal, the United Arab Emirates (UAE) has witnessed a surge in the number of foreign residents over the past decade. I can truly appreciate the unique appeal of both places – one being my homeland and the other a destination I explored for the first time, leaving an indelible impression. In Dubai, towering skyscrapers dominate the landscape, and luxury cars grace the streets, creating a striking contrast to the serene ambiance of Portugal.

So, what draws people to choose the UAE as their place of residence? Undoubtedly, the tax benefits play a significant role. The local economy offers ample opportunities to earn substantial income, particularly within the real estate sector. However, the UAE offers more than just financial incentives; it boasts a vibrant nightlife, state-of-the-art sports facilities, exceptional healthcare services, and a strong sense of security. The cosmopolitan restaurants and diverse mix of people make it an enticing destination for individuals from all corners of the globe.

Now, shifting our focus to Portugal, a country steeped in history and renowned for its warm and welcoming culture, we encounter a slightly different scenario. While we do have a thriving nightlife, it takes on a different character, favoring open-air venues over the glitz and glamour of Dubai.

Living in Portugal also does not provide the same level of generous tax allowances, as the appeal of tax benefits gradually diminishes. The healthcare system in Portugal may not match the standards often found in the UAE, particularly with its ongoing challenges. Additionally, while flashy cars can still be spotted, they are less commonplace compared to the UAE.

So, why do people consider Portugal as an ideal destination over a place like the UAE? To live comfortably in the UAE, one must possess a significant income to cover the higher cost of living and essential expenses.
